keyboard with blue FAQ button | dentist in saint paul mnIt depends. Every insurance plan is a little bit different. Sometimes one plan will cover a procedure or treatment and another plan won’t. Some general guidelines:

  • Just about every plan covers preventive care. Some even cover it 100%! It’s important to note, however, that some insurance plans limit how many cleanings per year they will pay for. If you have a condition like periodontal disease, Dr. Schulte may recommend more cleanings than your insurance will cover.
  • Most insurance plans will not pay for treatments that are done for purely cosmetic purposes. For instance, if you have a tooth that is discolored but still functions well, we can cover it with a crown or veneers, but your insurance may not pay for it.
  • Insurance plans may pay for a portion of advanced treatment, but you may still have a significant portion of responsibility. Some insurance plans are realizing the long-term benefits of dental implants and will at least partially cover them, but many still do not.

Call Our Highland Park Dental Clinic

As we plan your care, we will review your insurance benefits and let you know how much of a treatment your plan will cover as well as which portion you will be responsible for. We will always help you maximize your benefits so you can make the most of your coverage. Please contact our St. Paul dental clinic for more information.

Children's Dentistry

If you’re the parent of a young child, you’ve probably learned by now that dental care is an integral part of your child’s overall wellness.

Once your child gets their first baby tooth, it’s time for them to visit the dentist’s office for an exam. If you’re new to the world of children’s dentistry, however, you may not know where to start. Our dentist recommends the following tips for excellent children’s dentistry in 55116.

Help Your Child Get Used to a Toothbrush

You should brush your child’s teeth each day using a soft, child-sized toothbrush even before their first dental appointment. This practice becomes more important the closer they get to visiting our dental office. Help familiarize your child with a toothbrush and with having someone looking inside their mouth to minimize their fear.

Bring Your Child’s Favorite Toy or Blanket

If your son or daughter has an object they just can’t live without, bring it to their first dental visit! This sense of familiarity will help them feel more comfortable while they’re here with us and give them a built-in distraction.

Plan a Fun Post-Visit Treat or Reward

Rewarding your child with a simple treat after their dental visit can help positively reinforce that the dentist is a fun, safe place to be. We recommend a trip to the park or swimming pool, watching their favorite movie, or buying an inexpensive toy or trinket.

Dental Implants

illustration of dental implant | dentist in saint paul mnA dental implant is a restoration that replaces a missing tooth. It comes in three basic pieces:

  • The implant, which is surgically placed into your jawbone
  • The abutment, which connects the implant to your restoration
  • The restoration, which fills in the space left by the missing tooth

Advanced Dental Technology

At our office, we are able to precisely place implants using our 3-D cone beam x-ray system. We are also able to create customized crowns right here in our office using our CEREC system. Implants can also be used to securely hold a bridge or dentures if you are missing multiple teeth or you are edentulous (missing all your teeth).

Dependable Tooth Replacement Option

Implants are an excellent choice for most patients who are missing teeth because, in addition to looking and feeling like a natural tooth, they also help maintain your precious periodontal bone. This is incredibly important for your long-term dental health.

The implant functions like a replacement root, stimulating your bone to continue maintaining itself. Without this stimulation, the bone resorbs, becoming diminished and weak. Eventually, as the bone becomes weaker, you are likely to lose more teeth. Dental implants stop this cycle so that you can retain more of your natural teeth.

Call Our St. Paul MN Dental Clinic

If you are missing teeth, we recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Schulte to see if dental implants are a good choice for you.

Emergency Dentistry

Woman holding jaw from pain | Dentist Highland Park MNThrough preventive dentistry at Brimhall Dentistry, we may be able to avoid or halt certain dental issues like gum disease, tooth decay, infection, and oral cancer. We always encourage our patients to visit us regularly so we can have a fighting chance of avoiding dental emergencies.

Still, some emergencies cannot be predicted or avoided due to accidents, illnesses, or anything else life throws at us. Curveballs are to be expected over your lifetime, which is why we train hard to treat them efficiently and competently.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

Dr. Nick Schulte, your emergency dentist in St. Paul, MN, is available to diagnose and heal any dental mishap, including:

  • Knocked-out teeth
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Lost filling or dental crown
  • Injury to tooth
  • Tooth pain
  • Sore jaw joints
  • Painful abscesses

If you have been in an accident and are experiencing severe pain or uncontrollable bleeding, please go to the emergency room immediately.

See Us Straight Away If You Have Dental Pain

While there may be over-the-counter medications and herbs that people recommend if you are experiencing oral pain, we want to stress the fact that tooth pain is not normal. The goal isn't to ignore the pain or relieve it temporarily. Tooth pain can indicate an abscess, infection, or disease that will eventually get so bad that it becomes a dire dental emergency.

Call our St. Paul MN Dental Clinic

Give Brimhall Dentistry a call immediately if you feel an oral abnormality, and especially to continue your preventive dental care.

Orthodontics

Woman using clear aligners | Dentist Highland Park At Brimhall Dentistry, we offer reliable orthodontic treatment in St. Paul, MN known as clear aligners. Similar to Invisalign, this gentle treatment gradually shifts and rotates your teeth, according to Dr. Nick Schulte's individualized treatment plan for you.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Custom-fit clear aligners are incredibly simple and allow for a wide variety of freedom to the wearer. The treatment starts with your first set of clear aligners that fit over your teeth. After two or three weeks, you simply move on to the next set of aligners in your treatment series.

No adjusting of wires and brackets, no constant trips to your St. Paul dentist for realignment.

The process is super easy.

Treatment time varies with each patient, and Dr. Schulte will be able to assess your progress over time.

Can SureSmile Aligners Help Me?

Our St. Paul, MN orthodontist can assess whether this treatment is right for you. SureSmile clear aligners have helped many adults unobtrusively straighten their teeth, from moderate to complex smile issues.

SureSmile may be able to fix the following issues:

  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Underbite
  • Overbite
  • Spaces between teeth
  • Crossbite
  • Crooked teeth

Are You Interested in SureSmile Clear Aligners?

One of the best parts of clear aligners in St. Paul, MN is their inconspicuous nature, the fact that they're invisible means patients don't have to fret about traditional metal braces. While metal braces are the best option for certain, severe cases, only a dental professional can determine what options are available for you.

Call us today to schedule an orthodontic evaluation with our dentist.

Porcelain Bridges, Inlays, & Veneers

woman holding hands in front of mouth | dentist saint paul mn The appearance of your teeth is key to every first impression you make. Every treatment we offer at our St. Paul dental practice is done with an eye toward esthetics. For instance, if you need a filling in one of your front teeth, tooth-colored composite will be our first choice as a filling material.

Cosmetic Dental Solutions

Sometimes, however, your teeth may be essentially healthy, but you might be unhappy with their appearance. Your best option is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Schulte so that we can discuss your concerns and your goals and determine the best way to help you. One option that's effective for concealing one or more problematic teeth is veneers. Veneers are small shells of porcelain that are designed just for you and placed right over the top of your prepared teeth. They can cover a number of problems, including cracks and discolorations, and they can improve the shape of a tooth that appears too short.

Importance of Oral Health

Before we plan for any cosmetic treatments, it's important to make sure that your overall dental health is good. If you have any areas of active disease, such as decay or periodontal disease, this needs to be addressed first. While dental porcelain itself does not decay as enamel does, decay can still develop beneath the restoration, and we want to make sure chances of that happening are minimal to protect both your oral health and your investment.

Root Canals & Extractions

dentist and dental assistant next to dental lamp looking down | Dentist St paul MN The root canal therapy procedure has an unfortunate bad reputation. We see it on our patients' faces every day when we inform someone that they need a root canal and they groan and look fearful. We understand. As dentists, we are often the subject of bad press from TV shows and movies, and people often expect us to be mean or uncaring.

We want you to know that this perception of dentists couldn't be further from the truth.

Caring Dental Staff

Most dentists are highly concerned about their patients' well-being. We would absolutely never do anything to deliberately hurt someone. In fact, we take every possible precaution to make sure that every procedure we perform, even a root canal, is comfortable.

Before we begin your treatment, we will numb the area we will be addressing so that you won't feel a thing. Our compassionate team will help you feel comfortable and well cared for.

Contact Our St. Paul MN Dental Clinic

One of the main reasons why patients associate root canal therapy with pain is because the conditions that are treated using a root canal are often so painful. What you need to know is that root canal therapy will actually relieve this pain. Soon, you will feel like your old self again.
